Typical Installation

  1. Remove any unwanted material (unstable or loose subgrade), clear and compact the area.  Backfill and level the area using a dense aggregate for subbase (at least three inches (3”) for pedestrian traffic, four inches (4”) for light vehicle traffic and increasing to twelve inches (12”) for heavy vehicle traffic).  Compact the subbase using a plate vibrator, until surface is perfectly flat.

  2. Anchor a suitable edge restraint into the compacted subbase.

  3. Place the sand-bedding course (a fine, well graded mixture of fine and coarse particles of sand that is dry to slightly moist), leveling it to a uniform depth of one inch (1”) to grade.

  4. Select your laying pattern, and install paver flat on the sand bed.  For best results, lay paver from more than one pallet at a time.

  5. Using a vibrator plate, tamp the paver to attain a uniform level.

  6. Spread dry paving sand over the surface and sweep until joints are filled.

Installing Paving Stones over existing concrete or asphalt

To install LockPaver Paving Stones over existing concrete or asphalt, make sure the surface is free from large cracks and heaving.  The existing pavement should be relatively flat.

To prevent sand from falling into smaller existing or future cracks, cover the existing area with a geotextile filter fabric.  Next, install a suitable edge restraint and place the bedding sand, leveling it to a uniform depth of one inch (1”) to grade.

Install pavers flat on the sand bed.  When complete, tamp the pavers with a plate vibrator to attain a uniform level.  Follow with sweeping dry paving sand over the surface until joints are filled.

Note:  Please contact us for actual color samples.  For best results in maintaining color consistency, pavers must be installed from several cubes at a time.
